Has Jaguar finally outclassed its overachieving rival Aston Martin? Yes and no. The new Jaguar XKR-S bears testimony to that claim. The 550 bhp monster easily beats its 490 bhp contemporary, the Aston Martin Virage, in performance terms.
However, in terms of style, Jaguar still needs some catching up to do. Nothing beats a sleek Aston Martin pulling up the drive, not a Jaguar, nor any other. And the Aston Martin Virage’s cabin is still a presidential suite, which the Jaguar does not even come close to matching.
However, the Aston Martin models do tend to get a little monotonous, with their almost same designs. Jaguar, on the other hand, has done a great job in making this XKR-S look meaner than ever.
